The Franklin Light Opera Company is proud to present Pauline Viardot’s Cinderella (English translation). Based on Perrault’s original fairy tale, Cinderella is forced to work in her father’s home as a household servant, mistreated by her step sisters and ineffectual father. When the Prince announces that he is having a Ball, Cinderella’s sisters let her know she is not invited. Forlorn, she falls asleep by the fire only to be awakened by her Fairy Godmother who transforms her into a beautiful princess so that she too can attend the Ball. In the end, Cinderella finds her Prince, forgives her unkind family and lives happily ever after. This lighthearted and family friendly opera is filled with music, romance and laughter.
